∆ (Delta) is an EP released in 2020 by Aashray Harishankar. Infused with a variety of genre and cultural influences, including Indian classical, jazz, electronic, folk, rock, and ambient elements, the EP evokes feelings of separation and loss. It progresses through the cycle of grief and loss into a rebirth of motivation for life and for moving forward. In many ways, the EP reflects the world mood and suffering through the pandemic. The EP features the lead single "Lake", which is a 'Bon Iver' inspired acoustic ballad that uses the lens of water to speak to a feeling of strandedness, of being paralyzed by your grief, lost in a dream state. The title track '∆' and outro 'Canopy' capitulate the album with a renewal of life and openness to change, paralleled through a vision of a delta opening up to the sea and a canopy opening up to the sunlight above.
